Work-related (29%) — Generally not eligible for benefits until indefinite leave to remain is granted. Currently takes a minimum of 5 years. Annual NHS surcharge of £1,000 has to be paid by the immigrant.

Family-related (18%) — Generally not eligible. Annual NHS surcharge of £1,000 has to be paid by the immigrant.

Humanitarian/asylum — (7%) — Have access to certain benefits. Receive limited Home Office support (not standard welfare).

Other (12%) — Eligibility varies by status.
