I do quite like the fact that...

here in the UK we have elections on Thursday (whereas most of Europe is Sunday, which makes sense from a turnout point of view) because traditionally workers got paid on Friday so Thursday was the day they were deemed to have less money and therefore less likely to be pissed when they voted.
