I should have been clearer, I was referring to the year 1995, not the season. However, with hindsight, I’d go back to the mismanagement of the Mike Walker / Everton situation in early 1994 for the first proper discontent.

It’s been fairly obvious why we had to sell players the last two summers, hasn’t it? And hasn’t that followed years of not selling (in a few cases, against popular opinion)? Yes, I am aware that if our owners were much wealthier and more powerful we wouldn’t have had to, but that’s denying history and we're not able to go back in time. We are where and who we are. I’m not privy to the club’s innermost financial situation and I don’t know enough about economics, nor do I have the time, to go through public end of year tax statements. (I don’t care enough either, for the sake of this petty argument.) However, I’m going to presume it was a necessity and I’ll take it at face value that we’ve had to balance the books. In Chase’s time it certainly wasn’t that clear and wasn’t considered to be necessary by most supporters. There just wasn’t enough information available in those days. Maybe if he had been more transparent supporters would have cut him more slack. The Sutton and Fox sales and his statement that he’d leave if they did highlights this and aggravated matters, as pointed out below.

People are not generally as angry towards Delia because it is perceived that she and Geoffrey Watling saved the club when she took over from Chase. Again, I can’t claim any knowledge of the finances of the club in those days and any interpretation of club statements is just that; interpretation and speculation. So that’s just my opinion. A lot of people like the fact that she’s a fan and I can’t blame them for that. I can’t say it bothers me, personally, one way or the other.

As for the crowd’s animosity towards the managers you mention, I’ve always had my own theories on that which aren’t really relevant. I’ve never been a fan of constant sacking though. Continuity is stronger, in my opinion.

By the way, your double standard comment: my post was a flippant aside, trying to highlight the fact that it’s not really within either of our powers to just install new owners at the drop of a hat. Accusing me of double standards for that is petty and insulting, and I’m not quite sure how it shows hypocrisy either.
