You appear to have extraordinary faith in the Tories to deliver ER

Then again I'm not sure I have faith in Labour to deliver it either. And both appear to be only offering AV, which, as you note, isn't really any better - it certainly isn't proportional. But compromise on the form of ER right now would be disastrous as there'll not be another chance for a very long time.

I take your point about showing that coalitions can work; but to be honest I think the majority of electorate are already fairly convinced and would just like to vote for a party or candidate that most closely represents their views rather than tactically voting or simply voting against the latest hated incumbents. Well, that's where I've ended up anyway.

The elephant in the room is the economy, which has to be faced sometime - preferably without letting the "markets" (read the City) dictate - especially since they f**ked it in the first place and seem to forget who bailed them out; but in some respects I think ER is more important - provided we get it right...
