The process would have taken at least a month, at a time we HAD NO MANAGER.

Look, I don't want to get hung up on this, my point is i'm not overly concerned that we didn't do it last year, as there is no guarantee what so ever that the ?5m promsised then would have improved our league position, and the process may have damaged it.

I will however be concerned if we are not listening now, and wonder why we didn't go back to PC at the end of last season.
