TL:DR - the over 65s data isn't there as the Oxford trials decided not to vaccinate as many over 55s until they were sure it was safe to do so, so there is a lag in the data.

Also he makes the very important point that this isn't actually about stopping people from catching covid. It's about stopping them from developing serious conditions from it and needing to be hospitalised.
