While I am here I'll mention the other unmentionable thing...

...I constantly hear about how wonderful life is in other (mostly northern and western) European countries. How high the unemployment benefit is in NL, DE, etc. How Swedes work fewer hours. How we get more vacation days. How our roads are cleaner.

Yes. And we pay a s**t load more income tax. It's unavoidable. If you want more public funding you need to do two things. First of all, pay more income tax and secondly vote in a government who is going to spend the tax revenue on those things. However, the NHS model is simply not designed to be scalable, and we need a scalable model for the next 50 years.

It's all about priorities and I do not understand why people always let themselves be manipulated into voting for the very things which will hurt them the most, and provide massive gains for those who do not need it.

I'll stop now. I only meant to mention the NHS :D
