I take your point its a judgment call and physical evidence is not everything but I seriously question the judgment to prosecute in this instance, particularly given the gravity of the charges for the accused. Of course the police are right to properly investigate any such complaint as they no doubt did here but those accused of crimes also have the right to expect not to find themselves up in court facing serious charges on the basis of no proper evidence.
