we saw it as being offside at the time because we (apart from Kenton canary, on here) didn't know the rules

Hackett stepped in to clarify the rules - a perfectly reasonable thing for a senior ref to do.

And nothing to do with whether Buffon fouled RVN earlier (which I thought was a close call either way, but anyway is completely irrelevant).

Only you (and bizarrely Jim above) could be this critical off match officials when they were so obviously right.
