this is bizarre.

It's as clear as clear can be that the linesman got it right. Panucci had gone off the pitch, but not to receive treatment. So he was active, and therefore horse-face was onside.

This debate about 'why the linesman got it right' is pretty bizarre. But fwiw, I imagine he had seen Panucci, so knew there was a defender in front of RVN.

Given that he knows the rules (unlikes as it transpires, most of us - hence why he's linesman, I guess), he could see no reason to give RVN offside.

I would guess that's why he made the correct decision.

But what matters is that he did. The rest doesn't matter.
