I thought that Charlton & Flemming looked our best CB pairing last year, but Worthy & many on here thought we needed more height. Maybe. We did still concede a lot of goals with Shacks in. And I think Shackell would have been playing this season, if he hadn't been injured.

We played Helveg initially, he got slated (didn't settle fast enough). I liked his yellow card for taking out Giggs on the halfway line. Cynical, crude, but oft used tactic in the prem (watch man u & arsenal, clip the player in the middle third before they can catch you on the break). Anyhow. leadership qualities need to be earned. I'm not a hughes apologist & dunno why he was captain. A team does need personalities & a team does need time to gell. This squad has not had that time, for a number of reasons.
