For people under a certain age, (35 ish?) the pre prem era doesn’t really exist

Our being in the premier league for 5 seasons since we were both relegated in 95 has put us way ahead of them in terms of “brand” recognition globally.

I’m not saying we’re important in modern football, or that they couldn’t become more important than us if they fluke some success (which is possible and to a large extent what we did). But if you look at all metrics we’re miles ahead of them in stature at the moment; attendances, playing budget, academy. Our social media profile shows that -

Instagram - Ipswich 45k, norwich 94k
Twitter - Ipswich 142k, norwich 602k

It’s a shame though really, reading that thread I agree with a lot of what is said about the comparison between the premier league era and pre premier league. There are things that are better now than then for sure, but the leagues were more competitive back then, promotion was less important as the money difference wasn’t so stark and consequently the FA cup was hugely significant.
