I don;t really understand though why

so many people on social media are kicking up a fuss about how the attacker is not being described as a terrorist because he's white and how he will be called "mentally ill".

All the reports I've seen are referring to this as terrorism. None are saying he must be mentally ill (although in my view all terrorists are nutters to do what they do believing that it is in any way justified or acceptable). Why are people trying to create an issue with the media coverage here when one doesn't really appear to exist.
