That's simply not correct

ONS have acknowledged that their figures do not include people who come in saying they are staying for up to a year and the national insurance data shows the actual figures to be much, much higher. What people also don't realise is that those ONS figures banded about to assess net migration are only "estimates" in the first place extrapolated from questionnaires done at points on entry. So in essence they sit incoming migrants down, ask them how long they are intending to be here and if they say less than a year they don't count towards the ONS estimate. It's quite a eye opener when you drill down into the detail. Wheb they are counted by virtue of the fact they register for NI numbers (and not all will) then those figures show ?2.4 million since 2011. And I don't think anyone knows how many have gone home again.

This is not about race and apart from a few raving fascists I don't think anyone suggests there should not be migration or that we don't need EU migrants to fulfill roles in certain sectors but there surely has to be some control doesn't there?
