Everyone just loses the plot. He was stupid to use the analogy for that reason but if you read what he actually said it wasn't outrageous.

The out campaign has been disappointingly outmuscled by the government machine because actually I think their arguments have far more merit but remain is likely to win because they have scared people into thinking it's too risky to leave.
