a lot of that to do with people initially seeing teaching as an easy career to get into

in a tough job market.

ie less city jobs going so more go into teaching now than would have done so in the past and its not necessarily up their street.

my wifes a teacher and she sees no end of pgce students coming into her school who fit that category.
