Well, yes

Look through a book of City players of the last 100 years, and there are so many who were schoolboy internationals, youth internationals, agegroup internationals...and play 3 reserve games and don't get a contract, or drop out, or get injured, or don't quite make the grade, or whatever. The wastage is pretty horrendous.

But for Jarvis to get that contract, he must have had something about him. Fuck knows.

Personally, i'd rather have a few youngsters in the team learning their trade and just maybe coming good, rather than watching a bunch of huff-and-puff journeymen. The current crop are a bit young yet - there is a big difference between 16-17 and 17-18 - but I would like to think that if they get a pro contract they also get a chance to prove themselves.
