I suppose the point is that 'established' doesn't mean 'immune from relegation'

Fulham were absolutely part of the furniture. 11 years! And yet, no matter how well they had done in previous seasons, no matter how much money they accrued, a European final etc - they couldn't escape.

That's good for football.

Southampton could have another three seasons of being brilliant, get relegated and disappear for another 10 years. There are absolutely no guarantees.
