Project Big Picture

Parry has been very supportive, seemingly because it is the only proposal on the table. Is thos his way of saying to everyone, come up with something better or we will continue to support this?

18 team premier league - no issue, makes sense
No community shield - no issue, not bothered really
No EFL Cup - well, not for the 9 teams who want out but no reason to can it for everyone else. Probably makes it an infinitely better 'competition' for everyone else in fact
Playoffs - isn't that closer to how playoffs worked originally anyway?
No parachute payments - not sure how this helps teams going down but I presume it is a message to sort out relegation clauses appropriately

I worry about the voting points. Who are the other 3 teams? Everton? Villa?

I also worry about the loan aspect. Seems they want to still be able to stockpile players, loan them out, develop them in other teams and take the profit. I guess we do a lot of that now too tho.

On the radio today someone mentioned they felt this would only work with accompanying wage caps across the EFL pyramid. I think that makes sense, i.e. why guarantee more money for the EFL if people can continue to gamble endlessly with it.

I am sure we will hear a lot of sensible alternatives in the coming weeks, mostly from fans outside the top six/nine, no doubt...
