If I underperformed consistently for a prolonged period of time in my job but everyone else was doing well then I would probably get the chop.

If my entire department was consistently underperforming despite it being acknowledged that many of us were highly intelligent individuals who are capable of doing our job so much better then the manager would get the chop!
