I'm not sure i'd go for Canary Wharf but then i've never lived there

If she's got the budget then around Borough Market is good and a cool place to live. There are some nice flats in Wapping and along the South Bank these days. Marylebone high street/Fitzrovia areas also quite cool and would give good access to the central line.

All these are very urban/central though. Not much green space around and very busy spots.

Brick lane/aldgate very trendy but to be honest once you get east of Liverpool Street its a real mixed bag of trendy/cool places and sh*t. I lived in Bethnal Green for a while which I liked but its quite edgy (or was then anyway) for a single woman.
