Good post. I still think that a NI only time limited backstop is the way out of this

perhaps closer to the original EU/NI customs union proposal but with the Stormont lock.

Obviously its not a completely 100% watertight backstop as the EU craves but you come down to the fact that they either face no deal in 3 weeks time or could have a position where you might "possibly" end up in the same situation in 5/10 years time (whatever is agreed) but at least be a hell of a lot better prepared for it with the likelihood being that it will be avoided.
