My suuggestions

Those who have already suggsted walking off the beaten track are absolutely right.

We did that and found this place purely by chance in Dorsuduro:

It's a little cicchetti and wine bar and while it is popular there are nowhere near as many people around. The cicchetti are lovely and really cheap.

You can approach either from the main highlighted drag through Venice or the path along the main canal.

We ended up going there on a couple of occasions on each of our trips to Venice since and even booked a hotel in Guidecca so the water taxi took as straight to the bottom of the path leading to the bar.

For what it is worth, the last time I was there was the second leg of the play off final and I did a couple of fist pumps while listening to the game on my phone. Got to the first leg but wife wouldn't let me cancel the trip to Venice!

We ate here a couple of times too again as it was off the beaten track and as it was only a few yards from the bar and we'd had a few already, lovely food again, though there are obviously hundreds of restaurants to choose from.

Has anyone mentioned Burano already? If you have 4 days then go there.
