Last went in 2012 - but imagine it will be, not least because of the exchange rate.

So this is why you should find places to eat which are slightly off the beaten track and are far less expensive than places on or near St Marks Square or the Rialto Bridge etc.

This might be a *really obvious* thing to say and it is about travel in general, rather than the specifics of Venice, so apologies if it sounds patronising - but with a veggie wife and daughter, I always look for places to eat in Europe on Tripadvisor first just to see what people recommend. It takes a huge amount of hassle out of it and you get a genuine sense of a place (and its cost!)
