8% eligible for free school meals in grammar school areas
3% of pupils that go to grammar schools in those areas are eligible for free school meals

the Sutton Trust hasn't swamped the media with anything, it was the Tories what announced their love of Grammar schools as official policy wishing - but the Sutton Trust carried out research into grammar schools - which is why you're seeing lots of articles mentioning them
but yes, the Tories probably have brought up Grammar schools as a way of deflecting from the incompetence that is their Department for Leaving Europe and the Department for International Trade
