That has torn up a highly beneficial trade agreement with its closest and largest trading partner, simultaneously plunging both it and that trading partner into political turmoil.

If we go, the EU faces the real risk that we will be the first of several unless they take the long view and make life difficult for us. Which in the short term will be very painful for both UK and EU economies.

Long term of course everyone will be fine, but that's not much comfort in the meantime if a job is lost, or mortgage payments go up, or if the ? tanks. Any poor bugger with a DC pension and planning to retire this year may have to rethink for a couple of years.

The doom and gloom may be overblown by Remain, but a Brexit is not going to be a bed of roses by any stretch of the imagination.
