Does Britain really have that much economic power these days anyway?
I mean a lot of industry is being gradually closed down (cars, machinery, aircraft). Doesn't seem like we really export much now except for oil and gas, which these days is barely worth digging out of the ground. Especially with the ever increasing environmental pressures to move to a more sustainable power resource.
To me, in terms of the economy, the U.K. needs Europe more than the other way around.
I could be completely wrong btw, that's just how it appears to me as an outsider looking in.
