Pilkington was a terrific signing

who only faded due to injuries. The rest were far more average, that's fair to say, but that's what happens when you ascend so suddenly from league one and need to upgrade on 9/10 squad places.

Definitely agree they suited Lambert's style, but that doesn't make the window poor, just the lack of keeping Lambert inside or finding a similar replacement manager.
