Has Labour promised to reverse those cuts?

From everything I've heard so far (eg Tristram Hunt on R4 earlier this morning), when pressed on whether Labour will actually reverse all of the changes that they have been criticising the Coalition for, the answer has been 'No'. So I find it hard to work out what they are offering that's very much different, except the downside risk of not having a great track record on handling the economy.

If you compare the Tory spending plans with Labour's spending plans, they're broadly the same.

I'm not going to defend the indefensible (fwiw my wife has a disability so these things are v dear to my heart) but don't kid yourself that Labour is going to be very much better.

It is very convenient for Westminster to cut Local Govt spending, whilst de-centralising services and pushing these down to the Local Govt level, because then the responsibility for cuts sits with local councils. That happened under Labour, it happens under the current Coalition, and it'll continue to happen under whatever rainbow Coalition we get next.
