the law is "minimum force" - so shooting someone for breaking in only is illegal and questionable morally.

If someone breaks in with the purpose of harming you and your kids then thats another matter....

I think the statistic of burglers being armed is something like less than 2%..... so shooting someone just cos they broke in is illegal.

Why would you have a gun in the house in the first place thats easily accessable???
