This comment is particularly accurate, I think
Maybe youre simply not aware of the influence of ID and creationism in the UK. Evangelicals - particularly those of a fundamentalist bent, are increasingly adopting the tactics of americans to spread doubt as to the science of all this.
Of course its a given that every christian, or believer in god is going to assert that god is in some way behind
this world and creation.
Here?s what will most likely happen, since it regularly happens elsewhere:
The school will hire fellow creationists who don?t actually accept the ?just a theory? of evolution , a 4.5 billion year old earth, or the geological and other evidence that shows there never was a world wide flood of Noahic proportions.
They?ll make sure in some subtle way that the pupils understand ?wink wink? that they have to teach this, even though they don?t believe it themselves. Framing evolution etc as being basically just another opinion.
I find it very hard to believe that any science teacher who is 100% into real science, accepts and fully understands the overwhelming evidence for the current scientific consensus, that such a competent science teacher would ever want to join such a school.
How much and time and creative effort is a teacher that actually doesn?t believe what they ?have' to teach - going to put in, to teach something that not only they don't believe, but also consider is counterproductive in their fundamentalist goals of getting people ?saved? ?.
Given the utter inability of the government of its bodies to competently and reliably regulate the City, the feebly funded body responsible for monitoring these fundie schools hasn?t got a hope of preventing these school founders from reneging on their promises and just preaching creationism while no-one is looking...
C4 will probably end up doing yet another hidden-camera documentary, proving that these guys are breaking their undertakings with the government, the school heads will get a slap on the wrist, no more and they?ll all go on like before.
