He had plans an ideas like Roeder has, and he had big set backs

It's the nature of management. The set backs lead to re adjusting and dealing with new experiences. It didn't work out, he lost it in patches but amongst the insults, he did care

Again I'm not interested in going over this, I'm in the minority, and he's gone, and football is a pantomime, and there's always got to be a villain (ie Doc, Thorne etc, Brellier's probably going to turn into the next. Rationality doesn't play a part, once the vote is cast to hate someone, it happens)

If you want an answer to your question, then no I don't think he needed more time, he was given enough by our board and I think they deserved credit, as managers need that faith like Laws at Sheff Weds

I think players needed to take a big long look at themselves around this time too, something which is glossed over, because it's all packaged up into one finger of blame, but individuals were a disgrace to their profession around the time Grant's era ended

Thankfully those players have been mature enough to shut it under Roeder. They had to really, otherwise they'd make themselves look really stupid

Some players have remained professional the whole time, and do themselves proud putting up with it. I say well done Gary Doherty, it can't be easy saying to yourself that you are a good pro when everyone is alienating and to a point begging for you to fail

This attitude also crept in, in Grants last games, where fans wanted us to lose so he'd be out the door

The episode was very disappointing, and fans seemed to divorce the memory that Worthington actually put us in this mess, and whoever came in after was on a hiding to nothing. Grant was that nothing

Management is all about luck, Roeder walked in and fozzy was nearly fit, and a nice gem of a surprise. As was Smith. A Peter Grant will look back and wished he had those players. I also think he was well aware of the defence but he couldn't do everything from Worthingtons mess all at once. He also wasn't expecting Murray to get an unfortunate illness

I chose to look at the reasons it went wrong, not just quotes where someone was angry, or anything to hit back at someone. I'm not that kind of football fan, I'm proud to get behind most players at NCFC, I even accepted Hughes could stay but only at full back, instead of slaying the bloke which became the fashionable thing

I stick to the line that Grant just didn't work out here. It's up to others to think he was a c**t, but it's well regarded in the game that he's a good man and a good coach
