... but hear me out).
The Hamburger joke is obviously anti-humour: what you're laughing at is the way he's so inept at constructing a joke in a fashion that is commonly understood.
For example, everyone knows the joke, "Q. What do you get if you cross a kangaroo with a sheep? A. A woolly jumper."
Now, that's a s**t joke. All jokes of that ilk are s**t. However, stand-up comics were peddling them for years before alt comedy blew them away.
Hamburger derives his laugh from being a truly inept old-style stand-up comic. Thus the humour comes from the fact that he can't even structure the classic "What do you get if you cross X with Y" joke correctly. The cras offensiveness - not to mention preposterously outdated - nature of the reference - reinforces the absurdity and ineptitude of the joke.
That's what you laughing at. Not the fact that he's making a homophobic "gag" at the expense of Elton John.
