It's got to be a consideration in the appointment.

If we set ludicrous expectations, the pressure is on from day one and this ship is going to take some turning by no matter who is steering. Will we make the job impossible if it is Curbs.

The onther one is equally valid. You shouldn't employ your mates. You don't necessarily judge their actions/success/failure with 20:20 vision if they are your mate.

Now that isn't to say the good points don't vastly outweigh the bad, just that they should be accounted for.
