huge chunks out of the ball, with their teeth, specially grown sharp fingernails (don't think they wouldn't!).

You can't have lawlessness and I really don't think you've thought it through.

Who cares if batsmen's averages are higher? That's what the vast majority of people want to see - more runs, more boundaries, and if test match results are being achieved because of the more positive play, then good.

If you take these rules away then the condition of cricket balls after 30 overs would become farcical. There, I've answered. Now you answer how 5/11 of every team could possibly hope to stand a chance against opening bowlers, bowling at 90mph with an old ball with gouges in it and swinging all over the place?

I think your position, and Woolmers, is ludicrous, but you're too stubborn to admit it.
