"All the referees who whistle in the Premier League, the best league in the world, work with VAR. In Europe, they work with VAR. In smaller countries they work with VAR. So these referees who want to go to the Premier League also need to practice with VAR.

"It is a logical thing to do this in the Championship to develop your referees to go to the highest level.

“There is a lot of money at stake for going up or down. It would help football a lot. I know there will be more mistakes in the Championship because they cannot see everything. I won’t make hard conclusions about that because they are human. But they don’t get the help this league deserves.

"It can be like in the casino. Red or black. You don’t know. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and if you lose a lot of those moments as a team it can have severe conclusions for a season. The Championship, for me, I count as one of the top eight competitions in Europe.”
