xG was never meant to be a predictor. Don't come at it from a sports betting angle.

It’s one of many metrics that, when combined, help assess current capability and performance.

Anyone who’s worked in system analysis or process improvement knows how metrics drive progress, football is no different.

Sadly, plenty of fans (and probably a few coaches) still don’t get that.
