I don’t get what point you’re trying to make

Yes, there was a different reaction yesterday to the Krul mistake. Of course there was. We had Smith for one year, and I for one was unable to discern any credible plan. I honestly could not describe to you what “our way” was under Smith. But I do know we were lacklustre and rudderless, and the players looked lost and unfit. After a year of that, people had run out of patience. And then, just as tempers were getting frayed, we were told, essentially, it was our fault. Only one ending at that point. Inevitable.

Wagner has, in contrast, been a breath of fresh air. No, things are not perfect, as yesterday showed. But things already look better, and I now could have a go at describing what I think we are intending to do. Not surprising people are not jumping on everything little thing. But all of the above hardly makes it “personal” about Smith. To the extent it was, he made it personal first if you ask me, but blaming us for his incompetence.

No, the last year wasn’t entirely Smith’s fault, nor is our current position. But he HAS to carry a lot of the can for a genuinely terrible year and a very poor season so far.

Is any of that controversial?
