Personally speaking, I think tax should be a matter of pride, not shame.

You should be proud that you are contributing to society, not trying to get away with paying as little as possible. It’s that attitude of “screw everybody else” that got us where we are today. Pay a fair amount and be proud of it.

Of course we could debate what’s fair and what the government does with the income they derive from it, but that’s what voting’s for.
