On the dilution point….(sorry if this is really obvious)

It’s dilution in terms of proportional ownership, but not value of shareholding.

Taking a basic example, if a company has 10 shares and each is worth £10, the company is worth £100. Say there’s two shareholders each owning 5 shares, they have shares worth £50 each.

If a new shareholder buys 5 new shares for £10 each, the company is now worth £150 and each shareholder has shares worth £50.

In Delia and Michael’s case this overlooks the fact that a controlling shareholding might be worth a premium, but you get the gist.

Of course, if webber uses the cash to buy a theoklitos and a rashica, then yes, value then does go down, but if we buy three buendia’s and a Pukki, everyone’s a winner.
