Very good points.
And yeah, I've probably never said it outright, but although I mourn the loss of Farke as our manager I don't think it makes sense to get him back.
What I'm after is the next 'Farke' - a manager who can assess where we're at and come up with a path to move us there.
The context is entirely different as you rightly point out - and Smith will approach it in his own way.
I guess I just feel that after 9 months I'd have liked to see Smith work his magic on at least a core group within the squad, but it still feels weird that (Pukki and Max excepted) I'm not sure who would be in his 'core group' - Andy O and Idah, I guess?
Thing is, I find it a bit depressing that we seem to be in a position where the handful of new lads need to be 'the answer' - I really don't believe that the entire legacy squad is awful, but I'd have hoped there was some partnerships building around the pitch for those guys to slot into... but we are where we are
Thanks also for the lengthy, considered reply. I've always thought you talk a lot of sense on Norwich stuff, but was struggling to get my head around your reasoning until now, but the above made muchly sense.
Ta!
