I’d have some sympathy with the argument if we came third bottom.

We finished top last season at a canter.
We should be on a par with or better than Watford and Brentford.

Brentford have double our points tally and look a league ahead of us right now.

I know we beat them in thereafter to head but we capitulated to Watford in woeful manner.

We should be able to finish above the likes of Burnley (maybe not every season we go up - but sometimes - our record is embarrassing).

I guess when we wanted a centre back we looked at ajer and Brentford outbid us. That says it all. Even after selling our star player for £40 million we couldn’t compete with Brentford. And now we can’t complete with Brentford.

This isn’t just the founding model
