That one really annoys me

Why is it inappropriate to have a noun which indicates sex? Why is it sexist to use a noun describing someone which shows whether they are male or female? It's not pejorative or discriminatory. it just provides information.

Thus waiter/waitress; widower/widow; host/hostess; steward/stewardess; actor/actress; ballerina (not sure of male equivalent!); barman/barmaid.

I see no harm in having masculine and feminine forms of these words. It's just information. Like mother/father, instead of "parent".
