I've used Halfords for MOT before had no issues with them

Their customer service was pretty good. At the risk of Old Mansplaining MOTs are just a checklist to ensure the vehicle meets the minimum legal requirements to be on the road, I don't think an organisation could get away with falsely failing it in order to create work for themselves. Or maybe I'm being extremely naive.
