Lots of city centre retail and office space is going to become permanently vacant over the next 6-18 months...

The problem will be that developers will all be chasing the high end market, when what we need is lots more cheap (but less profitable) housing.

(*POLITICS ALERT*) There is a very attractive housing policy here for someone to grasp and run with. Pump some of the HS2/Trident/magic money tree money into that and you could put some serioius dents in the housing shortage, social hosuing provision, housing rough sleepers etc etc. And at the same time revitalise city centres, independent retail, etc etc.
