I actually applauded NCFC for taking this position as a) it removes any uncertainty amongst the non-playing staff in terms of their positions and remuneration and b) by topping up their pay the club have ensured that these employees still receive 100% pay (I'd not read that Spurs or Newcastle were topping up above the 80%?).

If the Gov didn't want this to apply to football clubs then they could presumably have said so, however as they didn't then I don't see any issue with clubs using the 80% pay scheme.
