So many contradictions in uk govt advice

Not stopping matches as people would go to a pub to watch instead doesn't make any sense.

Not closing schools doesn't make sense. Virus rates go down when schools close.

It's almost like the UK govt want people to catch it before the winter. Surely they should slow it down as much as possible until a cure available?
