Sodium

This makes for interesting reading:

I was advised at LGI to cut back on sodium intake, and the BHF recommend it too. I really love salt, so I wasn't far off mainlining it before the incident. My intuition is that my sodium intake was more responsible than anything else for the incident.

In the position I now find myself I am able to monitor (to a large extent) how I am doing with sugar/carbs and sodium. I'm doing OK - bp and blood sugar levels are reassuringly normal.

I can't monitor how I'm doing with regard to saturated fat - so I've really cut back on that.

As far as eliminating salt entirely - although it's my aim it's actually not desirable, but in any event it's certainly impossible. So I aim for zero safe in the knowledge that I can't achieve that, but might at least get to a "safe" level.

In my case there is nothing at all wrong with my heart - I had an artery problem. Sodium is linked to both high bp and arterial stiffness.
