We didn't achieve what we have by 'competing' at that

We did it by being smart acquiring players like Maddison, Godfrey, Buendia, Max etc. for next to nothing. Hopefully the opportunity we have given these players (rather than just throwing money at players to replace them first chance we get) will make us more attractive to the young talent we hope to acquire going forward...
