The thing is though that as usual its far more nuanced than is being

reported.

If you actually read the full account the boy was taken to A&E, treated and seen quickly and had a bed/trolly before being asked to vacate that bed/trolly for a more seriously ill child coming in. I assume that that point they were satisfied he did not have pneumonia.

He was then put in a room to wait for a bed to become available for him to stay overnight so he could be monitored. The hospital acknowledges that this room did not have a bed, just chairs so it appears they were effectively asked to wait in chairs and at some point during that wait the mother put coats on the floor so her son could lie down and sleep.

So actually all the different accounts add up if you actually read the full story but we don't get that we just get these viral headlines and photos flying about and people trading insults.

Its not good that there was not a bed immediately available for him, that should be the aim. That's why it appears the hospital apologised. But, by the same token "had to lie on the floor whilst waiting for treatment for pneumonia" is not quite the same as "his mum put him on the floor to sleep whilst he waited for a bed to become free after A&E had treated him and diagnosed tonsillitis because he wouldn't settle in a chair."
